Israel’s explicit call for genocide

JVL Introduction

Novara Media’s Michael Walker introduces this short programme discussing Israel’s extraordinarily inflammatory, indeed genocidal, language. Aaron Bastani talks about how this is a break with the principles of just war developed over hundreds of centuries.

The lesson so many of us have drawn from the Holocaust is “Never again – to anyone”. Too many in Israel and in Jewish communities elsewhere have interpreted the lesson as “Never again – to us”.

The latest hasbara slogan extends this in chilling fashion. “Never again is Now”, as meaning it is simply self-defence for us to exterminate Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere as long as we demonise and dehumanise them sufficiently in advance. Erdan at the United Nations has the affrontery to exploit the Holocaust by donning a yellow star when justifying inflicting mass murder on others.

Meanwhile, the BBC reports Starmer as saying that “he understands calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, but argued it was not the ‘correct position’ at the moment”.

Plus: watch Amy Goodman on Democracy Now reporting that the UN Children’s Agency has warned that Israel is committing rampant, grave violations of human rights against children in the besieged Gaza Strip.

And, just to round out this post, Starker appears to be inconsistent, speaking differently about war crimes in Palestine and in Ukraine. Now how could that be?

And here is Keir Starmer on Israel and Ukraine…

Re the discussion about Amalek in the first video, there is a useful and thoughtful analysis here of its meaning:

    https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/genocide-in-the-torah/

The complexity of the word “Amalek” in Judaism is similar to the complexity of the word “jihad” in Islam:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jihad

Both terms, in the current terrible situation that has been created by the decades-long politicide of the Palestinian people, are being used by religious fundamentalists on both sides in their very worst senses. And as the interviewer and interviewee point out, to have the word “Amalek” used by the Israeli Prime Minister, who is being driven by the ideology of the settlers, is absolutely terrifying. All this is to the delight of Christian fundamentalists, who believe we are on the way to Armageddon.

There was no surprise attack by Hamas. No expert believes that Israel intelligence would not have known. Also Egypt announced that it had warned Israel 3days before Oct 7 2023. I googled “Egypt warned Israel”on 12/10/23 and got 14 pages of reports of this warning in all news media all over the world. The first page listed: The Times of Israel, BBC, The Hill, F.T., The Daily Telegraph . The New York Times, NDV and Daily Mail with quotes. The attack was demonstrably a “False Flag” operation but no British or US MSN statements have mentioned this. But Israelis know it and suspect Netanyahu of deliberately letting the attack to take place for political reasons – it might have been them that were killed.
