Keir, where are you?

JVL Introduction

Hats off to Mick Lynch, someone who talks in a language that resonates with everyone who wants to live in a fairer society.

It is a timely reminder of what trade unionism is for – and the kind of media we are up against.

Send the link to your MP for Xmas, especially if you happen to be “represented” by one of the self-aggrandising “big”-but-incredibly-tim’rous beasties who shelter on Labour’s front bench.

  • I greatly admire Mick Lynch for highlighting the gross bias of our mainstream media. But he might say more about the media’s limited criticism of the Tory Government’s hard Brexit – as also might Keir Starmer. With a few exceptions like the FT, our media is failing to point out that Brexit has shrunk our economy and tax revenues vis-a-vis other European countries.

This man is one of the best union guys I have ever known and I have known many in my 77 years. He is articulate, knows his subject like the back of his hand, has a genuine honest answer to any question he is asked and never raises his voice or loses the plot. How I wish we had 50 MP’s just like him.

A few years ago, when Junior doctors were taking industrial action, the Sun published a fake survey concocted and designed to discredit them AND have their readers believe they were hypocrites:

‘Survey shows 93% of junior doctors would back a fully privatised health service if it meant a pay increase’

The findings came in a secret questionnaire of 9,500 junior and student doctors.

The survey — composed by a medic from Hull — asked them about the NHS, the new contract and potential future strike action.

A medical source, who passed the survey to us, said: “Many will find it hypocritical that junior doctors were justifying strikes on the grounds of patient safety and saving the NHS.”

It was a secret questionnaire you see, so the 9,500 junior and student doctors thought they could speak candidly. And because it was secret, the Sun didn’t name the person who carried out the survey, or the ‘medical source’ who kindly passed it on to them.

    The bigger the lie…..
