Any chance of this being streamed? Even “D(own) F(rom) L(ondoners)” deep in the East Kent boondocks, might feel a little anti-metropolitan resentment at having no chance to share this viewing. All the more in view of the (to me at least) apparent Slav ethnicity of the director – a very conflicted ethnicity indeed…

I look forward to hearing more about Jews Like Me, assuming that the Jews in question differ in some respects from the much referenced ‘Jewish community’ whose mythical existence is claimed to validate the views of most media pundits (Freedland, Behr etc.) as well as the Board of Deputies and Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Party. On a slightly different note, Home Secretary Suella Braverman has just spoken of the pain caused to her by Gary Lineker’s comment likening her language about asylum seekers to what was being said in Germany in the 1930s. What in particular upset Ms Braverman was the fact that her husband is Jewish, which to her mind links her family to the Holocaust. Personally I find it little strange that someone who claims a personal connection to the Holocaust should refuse to countenance the idea that for a modern day politician to refer to refugees as invaders might remind one of the prime example of racism in recent history. As the son of a Jewish mother who escaped the Holocaust just in time (her parents didn’t), I can only say that she would have wanted us to be alert to any messages that echo the Nazis, however faintly, especially when they come from a party in government.
