“The party that has done more to stand up to racism is now being demonised as a racist, bigoted party. I have got to say, I think our party’s response has been partly responsible for that because in my opinion… we’ve backed off far too much, we have given too much ground, we’ve been too apologetic… We’ve done more to address the scourge of anti-Semitism than any other party.”

I have never heard an antisemitic complaint in the Labour Party. I, an atheist gentile, have known Jewish people all my life and none of them have complained about the Labour Party and they think that this antisemitic complaint has been invented by people who want to end J Corbyn’s leadership of the Labour Party. Corbyn has increased the size of the Party and his policies are correct for helping the many and not the few.

Chris williamson is a good MP and lwill always fight injustice
Surely the change to the IHRA definition of anti-semitism has to be both right and proper.
The IHRA definition seeks to, inter alia, include criticism of the government of Israel as anti-semitic.
No government, British, Israeli, American, or any other should be above criticism, especially if such government is guilty of human rights abuses, immoral or evil practices, corruption, support of unjustifiable wars, etc., etc.. Indeed it has to be a duty to so speak out and criticise. In the words of Edmund Burke, “Evil flourishes when good men are silent.”
I would go so far as to say, when the law (as created by a government) is unjust, there is a duty to break that law, with a view to having it overturned.
I know that is easy to say when living in a country such as ours, where we are (more or less) absent a fear of incarceration, or much worse, for so speaking out.
I am somewhat perplexed that the Labour Party leaders and such friends as it may have have not laid emphasis via the media on this reason for the change to the IHRA definition which, it seems to me, seeks to silence free speech and criticism of the Israeli Government.
I have no doubt that right-thinking Jewish people are themselves critical of the Israeli Government, particularly as regards the oppression of the Palestinian people. Are they to be deemed anti-semitic?
I fully support Chris Williamson and condemned the witchhunt
