Passover/pesach greetings 2021

We are about to celebrate our second Pesach under lockdown with all that a year of living with the COVID pandemic has meant to us.

At pesach each year, we remember our liberation from slavery in Egypt. But we also remember the liberation struggles that are still to be won. For far too many years we have marked the ongoing Palestinian struggle for justice, as we do once again. And we also mark the ongoing struggles of the Rohingya, of the Uighers, of Gypsy, Romany and Traveller people – and of all who are fleeing persecution, war, torture and desperate poverty.

Pesach offers us the opportunity to take stock not only in marking the difficulties we face but to welcome those who are fighting back, to express our solidarity with all who have not given up.  With the Palestinian people who continue to resist and to live full and joyful lives; with those workers in Britain and elsewhere striking to demand fair treatment and pay; with the Black Lives Matter campaigners; and with the women taking to the streets to demand an end to male violence.

So enjoy your family seder nights and join us for our seder too, with Jews for Justice for Palestinians (JJP), Independent Jewish Voices (IJV) and the British Shalom Salaam Trust (BSST). Renew your energy and recommit to the fight for justice.

Gut yontif! Chag pesach sameach!
