Let’s Talk about Palestine – a JVL Public meeting at the Labour Party Conference on Sunday evening, 22nd September, 6pm

LET’S TALK ABOUT PALESTINE

Jewish Voice for Labour at the Brighton Conference

Sunday 22nd September, 6pm.

CHANGE OF VENUE

Mercure Brighton Seafront Hotel, 149 Kings Road, BN1 2PP

Beyond the stifling smokescreen of antisemitism allegations hurled at supporters of justice for Palestine, JVL’s fringe meeting will go the heart of the issue – the layers of the Occupation within Israel and the Occupied Territories, the role of the Israeli Labour Party, and the UK Labour Party’s relationship to these issues.

SPEAKERS:

Haneen Zoabi, ten years a Palestinian member of the Knesset, will describe life for Palestinians in Israel, the structures of oppression and the roles of political parties under the Israeli state.

Ilan Pappe, Director of the European Centre for Palestinian Studies and Professor at Exeter University, will describe the processes of ethnic cleansing and the roles of the UK, its institutions and political parties.

Graham Bash, Political Officer of JVL, editorial board of Labour Briefing, member of the Labour Representation Committee, will describe the background to the right wing attack on Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership and how this is being used to silence advocacy for Palestinian rights.

 Chair: Jenny Manson

 Date:  Sunday 22nd September

Time:  Evening, immediately after close of conference business.

NB  Please be sure to check the electronic Conference Programme, this site, our Fb and our twitter pages for any updates on the start time/venue.

Please could you record this meeting & have it available online? It sounds so interesting, but very unfortunately I can’t make it on Sunday.

  • This is an important event with a very good panel. Hope you have invited Tom Watson, Emily Thornberry and Jess Phillips !
Please, please for those of us who can’t be there, can you video the meeting and make it available ? A video would have educational value for ordinary Labour Party members who can’t be in Brighton.
Your work is absolutely vital and your energy and quality of output is impressive. As a non Jewish Labour Party member I am very proud and honoured to be an associate member of JVL.
