JVL Statement of Solidarity with the Muslim Community

JVL stands in solidarity with all Muslim people in the face of threats to make today, 3rd April, ‘Punish A Muslim Day’.

The very idea of such a call is despicable. Yet inflammatory material has been circulating and in response several messages have been sent out in Islamic communities warning people about going outside and encouraging them to lock their doors. The shocking propaganda letter includes details for awarding points for  attacking Muslims, and encourages torture, acid attacks, arson of mosques and assaults.

Muslims must not have to live in fear in our society. We look forward to strengthening links with Muslim communities and, together with all antiracists, resisting all racism, Islamophobia and antisemitism.
