Tolpuddle Radical Film Festival, 17th-19th July

Due to the Covid-19 lockdown the Tolpuddle Festival in Dorset has been cancelled. This includes the Tolpuddle Radical Film Festival.

However, both the main festival and the film festival are going online.

The main festival will be taking place on the Festival’s Facebook page. Details yet to be confirmed.

The Tolpuddle Covid Lockdown Radical Film Festival will be taking place in online Zoom rooms across the weekend of the 17th-19th of July. Rather than try to compete with the video on demand streamers we will be screening films that you are less likely to find on those more commercial platforms.

We are inviting the film-makers and/or film historians to join us on Zoom and each screening will be followed by an open discussion about the films and the issues raised by them.

This year we are delighted that most of our films are proto-professional, activist, films made by UK and European film-makers. This is in stark contrast to our first festival 6 years ago in which most of our films were US independent or commercial fare.

The Tolpuddle Radical Film Festival is unique in the UK in that it is funded entirely by trade unionists and the trade union movement.
