Pete Willsman’s suspension

JVL Introduction

We published this statement on our Facebook page a couple of days ago:

JVL says: The Al Jazeera documentary ‘The Lobby’ revealed a systematic effort by the Israeli embassy to infiltrate the Labour Party.. The efforts of the Israel Ministry of Strategic Affairs to label critics of Israeli crimes as antisemites are well documented.

It is Pete’s claims that the embassy has managed to infiltrate the Party that should be the subject of urgent investigation not his actions in drawing our attention to the possibility.[*]

His suspension must lifted immediately so he can continue his valiant and industrious advocacy for the Labour Party and for a more democratic Party.

[*] See for instance Labour calls for inquiry into Israeli diplomat’s ‘take down MPs’ plot (Guardian 8 Jan 2017) where “Emily Thornberry describes remarks by embassy official Shai Masot, caught on camera, as a national security issue”.

“The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory. Destroy its books, its culture, its history. Then have somebody write new books, manufacture a new culture, invent a new history. Before long that nation will begin to forget what it is and what it was… The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting”

The witch hunt part 10,000. The Labour Parliamentary Party is destroying democracy and freedom of speech from within. The poorest British people have had a decade of extreme suffering, some committing suicide after having paltry benefits cut, having no money for food or heating for themselves or their children, NHS and vital services cut to the bone have been praying for a legendary socialist saviour will never forgive the stupid self serving career Labour politicians helping the enemy sabotage Jeremy Corbyn and his leadership. We now have to fight against them as well as the Tories.

Emily Thornberry was on BBCR4 this morning calling for Pete Tillsman’s expulsion. She obviously has a short memory … or a short term agenda. Seems to be getting closer to Tom Watson these days.

    Pete Willsman keeps good company.

When I heard that his membership of the Labour Party had been suspended because he had stated his belief that the Israeli Embassy in London is complicit in the anti-semitism smears which have engulfed British politics over the last three years, I was reminded of Galileo.

It is now 400 years since he fell foul of the Roman Catholic church for explaining the meaning of what he observed through his telescope: the earth moves round the sun, not vice versa.

The church authorities insisted that the earth was at the centre of everything and that to claim that it moved was heretical. So poor old Galileo was banged up.

Pete Willsman might like to remember the quote attributed to Galileo, because it fits his case rather well: “You may force me to say what you wish; you may revile me for saying what I do. But it [the earth} moves….”

I too have watched the Al Jazeera film about the activities of Israeli agents in the UK. Are we all now required – like Galileo – to deny the evidence of our own eyes?
