Expulsion Rebellion! – a celebration

JVL Introduction

On 5th December an online celebration was organised in solidarity with, and in support of, all those suffering in Labour’s ongoing purge of left-wing socialists.

It was a great evening, with songs, poems and other contributions from voices both inside the Party and from some of those unjustly excluded and expelled for expressing their socialist beliefs and acting on them.

You can watch a video of the proceedings below and expect more Notices of Investigation to follow.

But they can’t – yet – get you just for watching the video!

I’m pretty much at a loss for words about this situation; along of course with many others, and what a time to be playing silly buggers with our party when so much vigour and energy is needed right now. I feel like joining an alternative political party, imagining it to grow as other reasonable Labourites feel the heat within a party that has temporarily gone potty. And in this fantasy world of mine, der Stürmer’s party finds it needs us, in order to win a seat or two and consequently is forced to become sane again, and reinstate those marvellous decent Socialists that have been treated so badly. It’s only a dream however, so we must hope that a tipping point appears, when those remaining within the right-leaning Labour party (did I ever imagine I’d form those words?) will wake up to what’s happening.

I was abroad when this took place so it’s the first time I’ve seen it. I’m so pleased that I was able to watch it all the way through.

What is so evident from all the comrades who spoke is first, Starmer is an imposter and second, he and his accomplices are determined to abolish the Labour Party from the Labour Party.

“Should I stay or should I go?” is a song that is sung at LeftFest in Southampton. What is the answer? I work with our Labour MP during his surgeries and have done for years. BUT,a big but I am antisemitic under current LP accepted definition. I also like the people expelled more than the expellers. Hence the song!

  • Hilary Haynes here , and many others around the Labour Party , have said”
“Shame to lose such a good comrade.” The suspended/expelled are not lost. They’ve been exiled. Whenever a Labour Party worthy of the name is reconstituted they will be welcomed back, with apologies. And, if a future Labour Party, under a new leadership can’t see its way to do that, it won’t be worth rejoining – or remaining in. And, though in full membership I feel in exile too: as do many, many others, I’m sure.

Great. I was expelled over a year for being a member of the Socialist Party. Usual evidence-photos etc. But I had already left the SP! I got over it after about ten micro seconds. Barry Sheerman my local Labour MP in Huddersfield is resigning at the next election. Doubtless they will try to impose some careerist on us.

Was the former politician mentioned by Pamela Fitzpatrick, who was uncertain as a would-be MP which way his career would best be served by joining Labour or Tory party, Tony Blair? I heard he tossed a coin.
