Antisemitism Row CALLED OUT by Barnaby Raine

A brief TyskySour video with Jewish analyst and activist Barnaby Raine calling out the weaponisation of antisemitism and its abuse, for instance by purveyors of the IHRA definition.

He concludes this video with these words:

“Antisemitism is now a potent charge for attacking progressive campaigns in coded, racialised terms. That’s particularly dangerous when antisemitism is a real, rising, deadly threat. Our synagogues have been attacked and worshippers murdered. Antisemitism is real. We need a campaign against it, not treating it as a sword with which to fight other battles. We, the left, want a world without racism where everyone from London to Gaza may live in freedom.”

I have reservations about “a world without racism”. Does it imply a world without racists? And if Zionism is seen as a form of racism, does a world without racism imply a world without Zionism. And does the latter imply a world without Zionists. It’s at this point I become uneasy and reach for my IHRA definition.

I am a supporter of JVL despite being expelled from the Labour Party for criticism of Israel. My own thoughts are very well expressed in this young man’s words. I hope that his bright light will continue to shine.

  • Barnaby’s video is one of the best on the IHRA that I’ve seen. I have some differences on the threat that anti-Semitism poses in Britain today but its arguments are sound. He rightly uses an argument that I have made repeatedly but very few others unfortunately have on the left.

If Labour ‘antisemitism’ was such a great problem why did the whole of the Tory press take it up. If ‘antisemitism’ amongst students was such a problem then why is the racist right, not least this government so concerned about it? After all this is the government of the ‘hostile environment’ and now offshoring of asylum seekers.

I’ve take a copy and intend to use it in a blog I’m currently doing

In reply to Philip Horowitz:.it’s very unlikely there will ever be a world without individual racists or Zionists, but possible that there will be one without racist or zionist institutions and laws or institutional racial discrimination and oppression.

As I’ve said before, if Jeremy really WAS an anti-semite AND an existential threat and a danger to the Jewish population of the UK, then there is no way on the planet that all the MPs that believed him to be so would be present in the HoC when Jeremy was there, and they would either not have entered the chamber if he was already there OR leave the chamber the moment he entered – ie boycotted the chamber whenever he was present. Of course they would. But the reason they didn’t is because every single one of them knew that the whole A/S thing against Jeremy (and left-wing members) was a massive fraud – ie a black op smear campaign – and THAT’s why PM Questions continued as normal, and at one point May wanted to consult with him about Brexit, and so on. In other words, the vast majority of MPs conspired in the black op smear campaign and, as such, deceived tens of millions of people, including the vast majority of their own constituents, AND subverted democracy.

Prior to him becoming leader, did a single one of them regard Jeremy as an anti-semite, or have even the tiniest reason to suspect that he harboured hostility towards Jews?! No, of course they didn’t, and they knew the very opposite was true, and that he was well known amongst them for his very strongly held views on racism. And they were well aware that the WHOLE of the MSM who conspired in the black op and duped and deceived their millions of readers and viewers and listeners were, just like THEM, totally corrupt.

It’s OK but I have concerns about Vashti as per my comment recent on Em Hilton’s article. They still propagate the ‘left antisemitism’ and ‘misundestood Zionism’ meme and throw some on the left under the bus.

Doug – your views are possibly abhorrent also to many others who view this site.

In early Christian times, in medieval times, in 19th and 20th century before 1948 there was a world without a Jewish State, and you know how that turned out. 2/3 of all European Jews were murdered.
I think it’s called persecution, massacres, pogroms and Holocaust.

Methinks it’s none of those things you hide behind, take responsibility for the actions of the apartheid state
Accept there is evil in all of us and being Jewish is not a get out gaol card
