Campaign for Labour Party Democracy statement

CLPD statement in support of Jeremy Corbyn and Labour

28 March 2018

The Campaign for Labour Party Democracy (CLPD) stands fully in support of Jeremy Corbyn and against the unjust attacks that are being made on him and the Labour Party.

CLPD has known Jeremy Corbyn since CLPD was founded in 1973, by some 10 Labour MPs and many other Party activists. We can totally confirm that Jeremy resolutely opposes anti-Semitism. He believes that there should be no place for anti-Semitism anywhere in society, including in the Labour Party, and he is a determined fighter against anti-Semitism.

We believe that the Chakrabarti Inquiry was correct to state that ‘the Labour Party is not overrun by anti-Semitism’.[i]

Many of the accusations currently being levelled at Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party are entirely false.

Views expressed in support of Palestinian human rights and in opposition to Israeli government actions are entirely legitimate opinions for Labour politicians to express.

CLPD calls on Labour Party members to unite in defence of Jeremy and the Party, against the unjust attacks and for the Party to deal with any allegations of anti-Semitism with the seriousness they deserve and in a timely manner.

Our priority at present is to step up the campaign towards the local elections and secure Labour victories on 3 May.

Peter Willsman
Secretary CLPD
